KARACHI: MPA Shazia Javed of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was on Tuesday rushed to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital after an overdose of sleeping pills.
Javed had overdosed on sleeping pills, grief-stricken, in the wake of allegations against her. On March 3, a video message was released after the Senate elections, whereby she claimed to have cast her vote in violation of the party rules. She added that she had casted her vote without informing the party.
Javed was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) where her condition was stabilized. Her son Muhammad Farooq while addressing the media contested the accusations, stating them as false.
Javed’s son stated that his mother had passed the statement in her interview out of emotions due to her ongoing clash with Kamran Tessori and Farooq Sattar. It was wrongly perceived that she voted for Pakistan People’s Party.
However, MQM-P issued a show-cause notice to six party members in light of violation of party rules. The members include Javed, Naila Munir, Heer Soho, Sunita Afzal, Naheed Begum and Saleem Bandhan.
