LAHORE: A Supreme Court (SC) bench hearing the review petitions of Sharif family over July 28 verdict said that according to Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) documents, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recieved salary from FZE Capital.
In the July 28 verdict on Panama Papers case, SC said that Sharif was liable to recieve salary as the chariman of FZE Capital, a company owned by his son Hassan Nawaz and this source of income was an asset that Sharif did not disclose.
During the hearing, Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Haris said that Sharif had never claimed to recieve any salary from FZE Capital.
Replying to Haris’ argument, Justice Ijazul Afzal said that Sharif did not declare a salary account while the court documents that he submitted clearly state that he recieved salary from FZE Capital in the said account in 2013.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed further clearified that it was on the basis of these facts that the court gave its decision.
